People Can

Not-for-profit resourcing support

The Contemporary Urban Centre in Liverpool is an events and conference venue renowned for showcasing cutting-edge arts and culture. The venue is owned by the charity People Can which provides support to the homeless, ex-offenders and those with drug and alcohol problems.

Independent was initially engaged by CUC to build its commercial team, successfully managing the sourcing, advertising, assessment and screening of commercial managers and executives. By taking an embedded approach and working closely with the Operations Director on organisational design and structure, Independent's remit was extended to fill additional events, marketing communications and duty manager roles.

"From the beginning, Independent had a very hands-on and integrated approach. They took time to get to know the business and the charity, build relationships and importantly, support senior managers as they identified the talent they needed. Independent became a trusted member of the team and I look forward to working with them again in the future."

"Effective resourcing and organisational design support is particularly valuable for not-for-profit organisations working on limited budgets. Working with People Can and the CUC was incredibly rewarding and a great opportunity to build on our expertise in the Third Sector."
